10/30/2012: 7:30pm - Utility Power Restored to Busch Campus / Hill Center
Update 7:30pm - Utility power was restored around 3:30pm today, and we have been off generator power since about 3:35pm. At 7:30pm grid power continued to be stable and hopefully will continue in that mode. We will continue to monitor the situation and are ready to resume an emergency power configuration if required.
Update 2:45pm - The generator fuel tanks have been topped off. We expect one more delivery later today.
If things continue as planned we should have sufficient fuel to get us well into tomorrow morning at which time we will deal with things according to current conditions.
So far the machine room has continued to operate without unplanned service interruptions, and that should continue as long as the fuel is flowing.
Update @ 8am - Hill Center continues to operate on emergency generator power. We are expecting a partial refueling from an alternate fuel supply within the hour. We have not been able to contact our regular fuel suppliers due to phone service issues, but are continuing to work to arrange a full resupply.
I will update this message again as soon as is possible.
There is a utility power outage affecting campuses in the Piscataway area, including Busch. Hill Center is running on emergency generator power, and should continue to do so for the next several hours or until utility power has been restored.
A quick resolution to the power outage is not likely, however. We have contingencies in place to order a fuel resupply for the generator, but that is dependent on our suppliers being able to make deliveries to the facility and safely fill the fuel tank.
In the event we exhaust our supply and cannot get more, we will be shutting down the facility as quickly and as orderly as possible.
